We are a 4-part a cappella group located in the Cary, North Carolina area, singing musical styles including barbershop, show/movie tunes, doo-wop, contemporary a cappella, choral, and popular (Top 40). We pride ourselves on top-notch vocals, while being approachable to all skill level singers. We have both a men's chorus and a mixed chorus, performing regularly at various venues.
Oak City Sound selects music from a catalog of popular songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and now, as well as famous musicals and movies. While we will always stay true to our identity of barbershop, we will venture out to works of contemporary a cappella, choral, doo-wop, and pop to reach a greater audience in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Cary areas.
Oak City Sound is the Research Triangle Park chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
Our Vision is to entertain, educate, and uplift our audiences and to be a positive contributor to our community and the Carolinas District of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
Our Mission is to
- enrich lives and entertain our audiences through barbershop harmony
- be actively involved as a community-focused arts organization through fundraising for charitable causes and musical education
