1. High Notes
  • July 29: Welcome, Ravonda, who gave us a try this week! We hope to see you next week.
  • Aug. 5: Regular Monday meeting: Reminder on our NEW TIMES of 6:45p for Mixed Chorus, 8:00p for Men's chorus, at our regular location at the Glenaire Auditorium (4000 Glenaire Circle, Cary).

Lakeside Harmony Weekend Highlights!
As many of you heard, July 26 & 27 was the Lakeside Harmony Weekend, organized by the Carolinas and Southeastern Harmony districts of the BHS. Four of our member (Warren, Andy, Paul, and Eva) attended and shared some great takeaways, including:
  • Class Highlights:  There were 18 options, covering topics such as Tag Singing, Vocal Production (how does your voice/throat actually make sounds?), Care of the Senior Voice, Basic Arranging, and Music Theory, along with breathing and performance techniques.
  • Top-Notch Teachers & Talent:  Counting 21 coaches and faculty who are nationally-known judges, quartet medalists, chorus leaders, arrangers, and Harmony University faculty. The Saturday night show featured medalist quartets including Riptide (multi-medalists), Let’s Sing (International Senior Champs ‘23), and Full Effect (’23 Varsity Champs & 6th at International ‘24)
  • Supporting the Next Gen through Harmony Explosion, a weekend camp for high-school aged barbershoppers, and co-located at LHW. (See photo attached below!) Want to support singers like these? Check out Next Generation Barbershop & the Harmony Foundation International: https://www.barbershop.org/donate/our-impact-areas/youth.
  • An Affordable Experience – make plans for next year! It was held at Clemson University (beautiful!) and registration included 4 education classes, housing, 4 meals on campus (plus ice cream party), and a fantastic evening concert from medal-winning quartets and the Harmony Explosion attendees.

Additional Reminders:
  • NC State Home Football Concessions: Have you signed up? This is our most important fund raiser of the year. Sign up here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dNxJLkhQRwNSG4sKW_Yu2FLa6rS1fIlxyLr9_j5FVps/edit?usp=sharing
  • Truck Location? The chorus needs to find a suitable location to park our truck. Do you have room on your property? Any additional ideas?
  • Are you available to sing at the April 4 & 5, 2025, Carolinas Barbershop Harmony Convention in Southern Pines? If you know you will NOT be available for the Convention next year, please let us know as that may influence our decision on the competition.

2. Carol's Korner
