1. High Notes
  • July 22: Nice crowd tonight as many folks seemed to be back from vacation!
  • July 29: Regular Monday meeting: Reminder on our NEW TIMES of 6:45p for Mixed Chorus, 8:00p for Men's chorus, at our regular location at the Glenaire Auditorium.
Action Needed:
  • NC State Home Football Concessions: Volunteers still needed! We team up with the local Sweet Adelines to man a concession booth at all NC State Home football games throughout the season. We still need 5 more volunteers for most games. This is our most important fund raiser of the year. Here is the link to the concession sign-up sheet:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dNxJLkhQRwNSG4sKW_Yu2FLa6rS1fIlxyLr9_j5FVps/edit?usp=sharing
  • Truck Location? The chorus needs to find a suitable location to park our truck. Do you have room on your property? Any additional ideas?
  • Are you available to sing at the April 4 & 5, 2025, Carolinas Barbershop Harmony Convention in Southern Pines? Based on the current similar member charts of both our choruses, we will only be able to have one chorus compete in this convention. The other chorus could still sing for a score but would not be part of the actual competition. If you know you will NOT be available for the Convention next year, please let us know as that may influence our decision on the competition.
2. Carol's Korner
  • We all made some great music on Monday night! Thanks for the focus and great work!
  • Mixed Chorus - We are almost ready to go with "I Only Have Eyes for You." Spend a little more time with it before Monday so you are really solid on the notes and rhythms. This will allow us to really make music and enjoy the sweet message of the song.
  • Men - Keep working on maintaining a free, high placement (Above The Mustache) regardless of the shape of the melodic or harmonic line you are singing. It made such a positive difference when we sang everything on one chord so we could hear where the truly important words and syllables are in each phrase.
  • Rehearsal plan for Monday, July 29:
    • Mixed Chorus:
      • I Only Have Eyes for You
      • White Christmas
      • I Wish I Could Be Santa Claus
      • Christmas Through Your Eyes
      • Mele Kalikimaka (remember that women will need to choose tenor or bari on this one)
    • Men’s:
      • Sleigh Ride
      • Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
      • Mary’s Little Boy Child
      • Fum, Fum, Fum
      • Do You Hear What I Hear?
  • We may not get through all of these, but be ready with them anyway!
