1. High Notes
  • July 15: Good practices!
  • July 14 performance at Waltonwood – Great job in a small, odd space! The men were jovial and expressive with only 10 regular members singing. Six of the ladies joined us for the mixed chorus to much positive feedback.
  • July 22: Regular Monday meeting: NEW TIMES of 6:45p for Mixed Chorus, 8:00p for Men's chorus, at our regular location at the Glenaire Auditorium.
Action Needed:
  • Are you available to sing at the April 4 & 5, 2025, Carolinas Barbershop Harmony Convention in Southern Pines? Based on the current similar member charts of both our choruses, we will only be able to have one chorus compete in this convention. The other chorus could still sing for a score but would not be part of the actual competition. If you know you will NOT be available for the Convention next year, please let us know as that may influence our decision on the competition.
  • NC State Home Football Concessions: Volunteers still needed! We team up with the local Sweet Adelines to man a concession booth at all NC State Home football games throughout the season. We still need 5 more volunteers for most games. This is our most important fund raiser of the year. Here is the link to the concession sign-up sheet:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dNxJLkhQRwNSG4sKW_Yu2FLa6rS1fIlxyLr9_j5FVps/edit?usp=sharing
  • Truck Location? The chorus needs to find a suitable location to park our truck. Do you have room on your property? Any additional ideas?
2. Carol's Korner
  • We gave a great show for a new audience on Sunday! Despite our small numbers, we performed well and may have even recruited a few singers for our Holiday Chorus!
  • As we settle into a program plan for our new Monday rehearsal schedule and a program plan for Christmas, we will start incorporating short sectional rehearsals that have not fit into our schedule for the past several months. These won't appear until August, but we will plug them in as needed/possible to help you work out note, rhythm and shaping questions within your section.
  • Let's keep working on singing Above The Mustache since "that's where the money is," as Mike said on Monday night!
  • Rehearsal plan for Monday, July 22:
    • Mixed Chorus:
      • I Only Have Eyes for You
      • Gloucestershire Wassail
      • Holly Jolly Christmas
      • White Christmas

      • Have Yourself (I will cool my jets on the tempo!)

4. Champagne Room
  • Jim Murrell’s son, Scott, has been having a tough time with his cancer lately. He started a new kind of chemotherapy this week because they are seeing some growth of his cancer. Hopefully this will knock it out. Continued prayers are appreciated.
  • Continued prayers for Nic Cols, as doctors perform additional tests and develop a treatment plan for his brain tumor. For the immediate future, Eva Snapp will be taking over Acorn duties. Please let her know if you have any questions or additions: evasnapp@gmail.com.
