1. High Notes
  • FRIDAY, JAN. 31: Installation Banquet & Awards, 6:30p – 8:30p
    • Fuquay Varina United Methodist Church (NOT Fuquay Varina First United Methodist!); 100 S Judd Parkway SE; Fuquay Varina, NC  27526
    • Where to Go: Go to the left and Park in the BACK of the church; ENTER from the back, walkway to entrance on the RIGHT. “New Room”
    • Recommended Dress Code (for nice photos):  Jacket and slacks for guys (no ties); Comfortable dress or nice pants for the ladies. 
    • 6:30p – arrival/chat; 7p – dinner; 7:30p – ceremony/awards; 8:15p wrap up.
    • Feel free to arrive early to help setup or stay late to help cleanup / reset room.
  • Jan. 27: Valentine songs, the Anthem, and Wonderful World are coming along. Great job on the tag-out quartet exercise!
  • Feb. 3 (Monday), 6:45pm Rehearsal: Wear Valentine colored tops! (Jeans are fine.) We want to video record a virtual “card” you can email to friends and family.
    • Mixed – 6:45p. 8:15p – Business meeting. Men’s – 8:30p. 4000 Glenwood Garden Place, Cary.
  • Sell those Valentines! Customers can buy them on our website: www.oakcitysound.org
    • $50 for a song on Feb. 14
    • $75 to specify delivery in AM or PM
    • $100 to specify exact time
2. Overtures
  • Practice those Valentines Day songs and plan to sing Friday, Feb. 14 if available!

  • Any Concert Suggestions? – The more organizational funding we get from group concerts, the less formal fundraising we have to do. Contact our Marketing VP Bob Inskeep with any ideas.

3. Carol's Cadence 
  • It was great to be back with you all on Monday! You are doing a great job with the Valentine songs. The next step is to sing them with feeling so you can really connect with the folks who will be gifted with those songs on February 14. It is a really special experience and you can get distracted by the emotions of the moment if you aren't truly solid and focused.

  • March 24 (Monday) – Glenaire Concert (usual location, but performance wear!)
  • April 4-5, 2025 (Fri-Sat): Carolinas District Convention/Contest, Pinehurst, N.C.

  • Nic Cols just finished his third chemo regimen and is “feeling fine!” We’re delighted he’s been able to continue singing with us during treatment.
  • Cross O’Donovan’s memorial is this Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2pm (ceremony at 2:30p) at The Cypress of Raleigh, 8801 Cypress Lakes Dr, Raleigh, NC 27615.
    • Bob Inskeep will be the minister who starts the ceremony.
    • One of our quartets will sing 2 songs.
    • At the end, ALL barbershoppers are invited to sing “Keep the Whole World Singing”
